As you saw in the previous posts the kitchen and laundry / half bath projects will be the biggest transformations aka WORK in this house. If you’re just joining the journey here are the previous posts:
The rest of the home needs some TLC, floor refinishing, plaster touch ups and a whole lot of paint. We are lucky that the original hardwood floors had been covered with carpeting for decades and appear to be in good shape. The photos below show with the sticky mess from the carpet pad still on top. We have since been able to remove most of it. Cheers to not having to pay for new flooring throughout!
Here is the formal dining room which will be opened up to the kitchen, as you saw in the previous post.
My favorite thing about this space is the ceiling height, the already existing buffet – that we will make snazzy again, and the size of the room. While formal dining rooms aren’t as coveted as they were necessary in the 1920s, this one is large enough to fit a decent size table for 8, possibly 10!
Now let’s walk into the living room… See this fireplace? Yep, not to code as there is no ventilation. It is holding up the house but not quite sure its functional purpose. What are your thoughts on faux-fireplaces? You know the kind with candles or whatever inside? That is likely the vibe this will have to be.
I can’t wait to share what the upstairs looks like. The closet space is incredible!
