As I mentioned in this previous post, there is an addition off of the kitchen and dining room.  It looks like the space was either a “breakfast” area (which is how we labeled in the original floor plan), place to play cards, etc.  Immediately I asked if we could add a half bathroom and laundry room here, as the only bathroom in the house is upstairs and who wants to have people over use the upstairs, personal bathroom?  I sure don’t!

While the ideal would be to have the laundry room on the second floor, near the bedrooms, it would gobble up all the great closet space upstairs. Wait until you see the upstairs floor plan and all the closet space!!!  A mudroom off of the back entry, would fit the current way we live much better.  We will be adding a small patio and sliding door where the large window is and a mudroom will be the perfect use for this space.

Here is the current floor plan and photos of the space in their original form:

As you can see it is a rustic wonderland of paneling.  While I personally don’t love the shiplap trend, bead board is a classic look, it adds character and texture.  We plan on utilizing some of the original paneling and painting it black.

Stay tuned for the renderings and updated floor plan!!!  Any guesses what we’ll be doing?
