You wouldn’t know by looking at all the renovation projects on social media that we are in the middle of a recession… unless those people are all spending their $600 a week of unemployment on home projects? In my home, I have lost 90% of my income being a self employed wedding photographer who couldn’t get a PPP loan nor did I want to chance getting any other time of loan to recoup income in the event that it wouldn’t be forgiven. It has been a bummer of a year, with a siginificant amount of potential income hanging out in our flip house. What was supposed to be icing on the cake and pay for a few luxuries, will now, make up for the income Covid took away.
Still, I love changes to home decor and I have been finding ways to perk my mood and brighten my decor for as cheap as possible. Paint is one way but people don’t talk enough about contact paper! I found this terrazzo (esque) contact paper at Wal-Mart and LOVE the effects. I picked up two 15′ rolls at just $5.48/roll and used it to freshen up the console in our entryway AND another piece that I will be sharing once I have the money to finish it.
Terrazzo is one of those materials that I LOVE seeing in other people’s homes and desperately want to use in some application once I renovate my dream bathroom… well, maybe! It is one of those materials where the cost is so high that it is a little scary to bite the bullet in the vent that you’re over it a year or so later.
Here’s a peek at the console table! What have you used contact paper on? Have you tried something similar?
Buy the contact paper here NOT sponsored 🙁
